To get a message to show up in the :ID: chat, send an email to chat [at] howtojointheindiediscothequewaitlist.com
Type your messsage in the SUBJECT line. Only the subject line will show up in chat.
In the :ID: plug.dj chat, type !setemail YourEmailAddress@whatever.com
You will then receive a code via email. When you get the code, type !verifyemail yourcode in :ID: plug.dj chat
Verification allows you to receive emails from people in the plug.dj chat. It also makes incoming emails from you show up in chat with your username (rather than your email name).
You can send emails from chat to anyone who has set a verified email with the !setemail command.
The command is !mail username ~msg your message goes here
For example: !mail matt ~msg hey matt what's up? would send an email to plug.dj user "matt" with the contents "hey matt what's up?". (The ~msg indicator is important and the command will not work without it.)
You must be given outgoing mail privlages to use this feature.
If you're a bouncer or higher, you automatically have outgoing mail privileges. No action required.
To give outgoing mail privileges to user, a mod can type !outgoingmail username
A mod can check the outgoing mail privilege of a user by typing !mailpriv username
A mod can revoke outgoing mail privileges by typing !nomaill username (originally a typo but /whatever)
If you had verified your email in the past, but you changed your mind: the !ihatemail command will un-verify your email.
